EVOL: Fairlie’s Foinaven, small cap squawks and McBoatface
Objecting to the noise and emissions of Foinaven, the good residents of Fairlie have been up in arms – and on the phone to Energy Voice – in protest. While the decommissioning industry may be sad to see it leave for Denmark, the locals are at best divided on its presence.
Egypt has turned out to be a tricky location for M&A this year. One deal has already fallen apart and TransGlobe’s desire to merge with Gabon-focused Vaalco is under fire. Small caps are under pressure, but there are no guarantees that size will solve all problems.
The people chose the name Boaty McBoatface for a larger vessel but scientific sobriety ruled this out, relegating it instead to an autonomous vessel. While the scale is somewhat diminished, Boaty has set off for valuable duty this week, heading off to inspect decommissioned assets in the North Sea.
